Strain relaxation index and diastolic function from echocardiography: the multi-ethnic study of atherosclerosis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background A novel strain relaxation index (SRI) is introduced to assess diastolic function by CMR, using myocardial deformation during LV relaxation. We investigate how SRI relates to standard diastolic parameters by echocardiography (echo). We also relate SRI to mass to volume ratio (MVR) by CMR, which is seen to increase in diastolic dysfunction. SRI accounts for both very early myocardial relaxation and tissue compliance.

Diastolic function from tagged MRI and myocardial fibrosis: the Multi-Ethnic study of Atherosclerosis (MESA)
Background MRI-derived T1 times are associated with diffuse interstitial myocardial fibrosis. LV diastolic dysfunction and fibrosis are important components of cardiac disease, but their relationship has not been firmly established. Early diastolic strain rate (Epeak) has been validated as an indicator of diastolic function by tagged MRI. We derive a novel strain relaxation index (SRI) based on...
متن کاملThe influence of Asthma on Right Ventricular Systolic and Diastolic Function in Children according to Tissue Doppler Echocardiography
Introduction:Asthma is the most common chronic inflammatory condition affecting the lower airways among children. Asthma may influence right ventricular (RV) function and patients may develop right ventricular hypertrophy, pulmonary hypertension and cor pulmonale. The main objective of this study is to determine RV dysfunction in asymptomatic asthmatic children as detected by ti...
متن کاملComparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method
Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...
متن کاملThe Influence of Left Ventricular Size and Global Function on Regional Myocardial Contraction and Relaxation in an Adult Population Free of Cardiovascular Disease: A Tagged CMR Study of the MESA Cohort
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between LV structure and function with regional myocardial function in participants of the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis, which is a prospective study including 4 ethnic groups free from clinical cardiovascular disease. Peak systolic strain (Ecc) and regional strain rates (SRS and SRE) were calculated by harmonic phase from tagge...
متن کاملDiastolic left ventricular functional indices: Comparison between gated myocardial perfusion SPECT and echocardiography
Introduction: Many patients have only diastolic dysfunction without any abnormality in systolic function. We compared cardiac diastolic parameters obtained by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT (Gated SPECT) with those evaluated by echocardiography. Methods: Forty-nine patients (aged 37-85 years, 19 males and 30 women) underwent Gated SPECT and echocardiogr...
